PORTFOLIO
GYOTAKU PRINT
Gyotaku is an approximately 150-year-old Japanese printing method where the fisherman
brings rice paper and ink to sea in order to document the size of their catch.
Each print is completely unique and only produced in limited editions.
The original prints are made on my archaeological expeditions in the Middle East and North Africa.
Several fish come from the Nile, the Red Sea and the Tigris River in Iraq.
It has been important for Henrik Brahe to interact with the local fishermen and also to
document their local fishing methods, including nets and fish traps.
