WETPLATE
The term wet plate, "ambrotype", photography comes from the photographer covering the plate with a light-sensitive emulsion and then exposing it in order to create a photograph. The photographic technique was invented in the 1850's.
Henrik Brahe teaches the unique skill of Wet Plate photography and facilitates workshops in his home in Portugal.
ARCHAEOLOGY AND TRAVEL
For the past many years, Henrik Brahe has worked on archaeological expeditions and excavations as a photographer and archaeologist in the Middle East and north Africa.
Henrik Brahe aims with his art projects to cooperate with the local communities, to implement cultural heritage and preservation of the archaeological sites.
HOME BASE
Henrik Brahe has lived in Portugal since 2019. His home is called Quinta De Cadimas and is located in the central part, near the mountains Serra De Estrella.
Henrik Brahe has his studio here, which is fully equipped to facilitate the wetplate/ambrotype photographic technique. He uses old woodden cameras more than 150 years old.
